SUMMARY:1:30pm-Restorative Yoga for Digestive Health-Marcela's Yoga Boutique
DESCRIPTION: \nPeople come to the practice of yoga for a multitude of reasons. Restorative yoga\, known for its ability to give practitioners a sense of calm and balance\, has this effect because it enables us to interact with subtler forms of prana within the parasympathetic nervous system. This branch of the nervous system\, which we commonly refer to as the “rest and digest” or “feed and breed” component\, allows us to restore energy\, reduce inflammation\, and lower blood pressure! The restorative yoga practice promotes parasympathetic activity because it is most stimulated during conscious rest. \nJoin Hope in a specialized workshop about how restorative yoga can be used as a tool to help regulate common digestive discomfort\, disorders\, and gastrointestinal problems. These include symptoms such as gas\, bloating\, inflammation\, and anxiety that effects digestive flow; as well as conditions such as IBS\, Crohn’s disease\, gluten intolerance\, and for postpartum women looking for additional digestive recovery methods. We will open practice with a discussion of the importance of the Enteric Nervous System (ENS)\, or our “gut brain”\, whose role it is to regulate digestion in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and its impact on stress in the body that can exacerbate GI issues. We will explore the connection of environmental and psychological stress that impact GI distress via the “gut-brain axis.” \nAfter learning some of the possible whys behind our digestive discomforts\, we will share in a special restorative practice. Designed to aid in soothing and calming the digestive system\, this flow will leave you relaxed and your energy replenished. Whether you’re simply curious or have experienced past or present day systems of GI distress\, or know someone who may benefit from a calming practice\, this workshop will give you tools to encourage your body to heal from the inside out. \nIf you have a specific symptom or condition you would like to discuss or have further questions about this workshop\, please reach out to Hope directly at infinitehopeyoga@gmail.com. You will also receive information to take home about what is discussed\, the sequence of poses\, including descriptions of why they were chosen\, and a small gift! \nHope ‘Akasha’ Hurlbrink is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) at the 500 hour level with Yoga Alliance. She has completed 500 hours of yoga teacher training at the internationally recognized Nosara Yoga Institute in Nosara\, Costa Rica with her teachers Don and Amba Stapleton. She also completed 100 hours in Essential Nature Restorative Yoga with Jane Fryer at NYI\, and now specializes in this gentle and deeply intimate practice. In addition to weekly classes and monthly specialized workshops\, she offers private Pranassage™ sessions to clients who are interested in having a personal and relaxing yoga experience. \nIn addition to teaching restorative yoga and Self Awakening Yoga®\, Hope has a deep\, long time passion for Vinyasa yoga. Her flows are slow\, strong\, and empowering and she loves to have a mixed class where she can offer multiple variations of poses and shapes for different bodies. She believes that yoga is truly a practice of finding space\, in the body\, in the breath\, and in the mind. Akasha\, her Sanskrit name\, translates to Ether\, or infinite space and this is what she seeks to bring to her offerings; a sacred space to practice movement\, breath\, and mindful meditation. Her classes\, while very intentional in their essence are also lighthearted in nature\, leaving room for self-exploration. Her yoga is like her life\, full of light\, passion\, and calm strength. \nRestorative Yoga for Digestive Health: 40.00 \nRegistration click here! \n
