DESCRIPTION: \nArnab Chakrabarty is a distinguished exponent of the notoriously difficult Sarod – one of the two best-known Indian musical instruments. He represents the musical lineage of Pandit Radhika Mohan Maitra (1917-1981).  \nArnab is a disciple of the late Dr. Kalyan Mukherjee (1943-2010)\, one of the most distinguished pupils of Pandit Maitra. He also received early musical training from Maitra’s other disciple\, Sri Buddhadev Dasgupta\, and vocal instruction from the late Pandit Yeshwantbua Joshi of Mumbai. \nArnab is a seasoned artist with an enviable repertoire of ragas and hundreds of traditional vocal and instrumental compositions. In the past decade\, he has given concerts across India\, the United States\, Europe\, and the Middle East. Some of these venues include the Tata Theatre\, NCPA (Mumbai)\, Sankeet Natak Akademi Festivals\, Museum of Fine Arts (Boston)\, Trafo Theatre (Budapest)\, and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.  \nArnab has two solo albums to his credit\, of which\, An Ode to the Sarode (2012) is the most recent\, featuring traditional ragas Poorvi\, Gaud Sarang and Khamaj. His music can also be heard on the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning documentary\, Born Into Brothels – Calcutta’s Red Light Children (2005).
